The idea for PFW came about after Jacky visited Printfest Ulverston in 2022. She has a passion for collaborating with other artists and is always looking for opportunities to expand a thriving arts hub in Wolverhampton and the surrounding area. It was her visit to Ulverston that inspired the idea of organising a local Print Festival at Wolverhampton Arts Centre. Clare, Lindsay and Sue were willing committee recruits and after many meetings, we are delighted to introduce our first Festival in 2024. Wolverhampton Arts Centre's Gallery Hall is the perfect venue for our exhibition and we hope that Print Fest Wolverhampton becomes a main event in the annual Printmaking Calendar.
Jacky Fellows is a printmaker/mixed media artist based at Wolverhampton Arts Centre in Wolverhampton. She studied at Wolverhampton University, graduating in 2018 with a BA(Hons) in Fine Art. She works within the local community delivering printmaking workshops to people of all ages and abilities.
Clare Sherwen graduated from Wolverhampton University with a degree in Fine Art (Printmaking) specialising in Intaglio printmaking techniques such as etching and collagraphs. She produces small editions of collagraph prints which have a textural and tonal quality and create a sense of heritage and an aged atmosphere within the artworks.She mainly works with collagraphs as it is a very safe form of printmaking which means that she can print from home in her spare room studio!
Susan Pitt graduated from Wolverhampton University with a MA in Applied Art. She uses Silkscreen printing on glass and ceramics to explore her passion for local history and nature. Sue works from her studio at Asylum Arts Studios in Wolverhampton.
Lindsay Pritchard graduated from Wolverhampton University with a MA in Illustration. Mainly working in oil, her work has its roots in the remote, empty landscapes of the Pennine Moors which captivated her as a child travelling from the industrial West Midlands to West Yorkshire on family visits. Since then, she has been fascinated by wild, open moorland and upland fells, and enjoys working en-plein air to experience the shifting weather patterns, sights and sounds around her as she paints. Through the medium of oil, she aims to transpose this onto canvas to recreate the sensory experience of being submerged in the raw, wild landscape at the mercy of the elements.
